Keep Working
Do you sometimes feel like giving in, throwing in the towel? Do you ever just wish you could stay in the bed on Sunday morning? Why is it that we can get so sick of church and the folks in the church? Why do we sometimes wish that we could just be bench members? Show up when we want to, go to the services we want to, or just stay home if we so choose? Why does THIS work seem so wonderful on one hand, and worrisome on the other?
Don't judge me, I'm the one who says what most think and feel. I can say these things because I know these things. Sometimes I get sick and tired of being sick and tired with church!
Yet, I won't give up. I refuse to throw in the towel, and I will continue to do ministry. No matter how sick or tired I get. These thoughts and feelings seem terribly wrong, and maybe they are. Nevertheless, these feelings are real. The important thing is what becomes of these thoughts and feelings.
Maybe what we need is a good, healthy vent session, with someone we love and trust. This should be with someone who does not suffer from the same 'sick and tired' bug that has bitten us, but with someone who will listen, then pray and set us back on the right track.
The next time you feel like quitting, look to the cross. What if He would have quit on us? He had a purpose to fulfill, and because of that, we have a purpose to fulfill as well. It's ministry. No one said it would be easy, but it's definitely worth it. Galatians 6:9 And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.
