Often times we find ourselves conflicted as to what is a good work life balance. We are charged to give 100% at all that we do, yet it seems something is always taking a backseat. I have not been the greatest at taking my own advice nor the advice of others. However, what I do know for sure is that when I am at my best and when I do operate under the premise of giving my all, things turn out so much better. For some, organized chaos seems to work, and for others simplicity and planning. For me, what I have found is that the pyramid of needs works. Each of us determines where each thing should fall, but I believe one thing that should be constant and at the top is God. It may be far-fetched for the unbeliever, but I can tell you this, if you operate under the authority of Christ all things will turn out for your good.

I am one of those people who likes to have everything just right. I cannot operate in insanity. I cannot fall victim to insane behaviors. You see patterns are set when we are stubborn in our ways, and we seek not to discover what it is that can make us better. In work, what one has found important is if you are going to grow you should have a good networking philosophy. That usually means identifying an appropriate mentor, in which you are able to deep dive and outline your goals. In life, it is stated that to be successful, you should have a healthy diet where you exercise daily and eat balance meals. Under these basic principles it is supposed to equal a good quality of life. However, I challenge this philosophy on the merit that, even with all those things in place, how you balance the two. Is it strictly all based on what you do or is it what God has determined for you? What happens when your well-oiled and ironed out plan is interrupted. How do you cope? How do you explain the unexplainable? This is where it comes down to God.

I think the best line that I seen in a movie, that I found to have a good grip on life was delivered by Morris Chestnut from “The Best Man Holiday”, in which he says, the following things are in order for his life,” God, Family, Football”. This to me means we must recognize the rightful order and place of things. We cannot be content with putting things before Christ. The statement goes, only what you do for Christ will last. Get your priorities in order, and regardless of what you have been told, healthy living starts with Christ.
