Lyrics to Move Your Soul
Lyrics to Move Your Soul
I try to tell myself that I should not write when I am emotional. However, I find that it is through my emotions the passion resonates with audiences. One of my many loves is my love for music, and how it allows you to express your feelings in such a captivating way. I am a person who loves Gospel, Neo-soul, and R&B music, with a hint of country. I find myself in some of my deepest hours just singing a tune to bring me to a place of peace. Often wonder what would happen if I had the opportunity to allow my voice to be heard in such a melodic matter, and how it would be received by others. Over the past week, I have been on an emotional rollercoaster and have found myself singing songs that are often times deemed as sad, but for me they are songs that let you know that you can overcome.
For example, I caught myself earlier today singing, Mary J’s song, “For all the times that I was loving you, you were busy loving someone else, I would stop breathing if you told me too,” and all I could think about is that “Waiting to Exhale” moment where you know a change is going to come. I then went into a song that was saying, “Girl, you know you are feeling yourself,” it’s India Aries’, “He is the truth and I know he is, and I love the way, he makes me feel”. You know after hearing those two songs in my head, it was like, well, let the music play. I went on to have songs by Donnie McClurkin, “Who would have thought I get to know you this way, I got to know”. Follow by a little Celine Dion, “For all the times you stood by me, for all the joy you brought into my life, for all the wrong you made right, I’m everything I am because you loved me”. With the final playlist song, Mary Mary, “So I decided, that I cried my last tear yesterday”.
Music has a way of taking you on a journey, which allows your soul to be captivated. Music is poetry in motion. To truly understand me, one would always have to think of a song. I like to be noted for the fact that in the slightest moment, I can break out in tune. For me music breathes forth life, and the abundance thereof. We can never have too much music, for as the saying goes, music is essential to the soul.
Can we talk for a minute; I want to know your song… (In my Tevin Campbell voice).
