Minister Ovester Armstrong Jr.
Rev. Ovester Armstrong Jr., is originally from Country Club Hills, Illinois. He currently lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In the past, Rev Armstrong served as Interim Pastor of St. Paul Baptist Church of Freeport, Illinois. Rev. Armstrong began in the ministry as Associate/Youth Minister at Macedonia Baptist Church of Rockford, Illinois, under the Pastorate of Rev. Perry Bennett. Rev. Armstrong’s ministry focus is based upon providing community urban ministry to the saints and enlightening/empowering others to live up to their faith. Professionally, Rev. Armstrong is now the Chemical Health Supervisor of African-American Family services. This is a non-profit organization which specializes in chemical dependency, mental health, and family services in both Minneapolis and St. Paul Minnesota respectively. In the past Rev. Armstrong organized the Non-For-Profit organization, KEY ENTERPRISE. As head of this organization he took over 300 kids from Winnebago, Stephenson, Dupage, and Cook counties to Historically Black Colleges and Universities across the nation. Rev. Armstrong is affiliated with many community and social organizations including Immediate Past Secretary of The Rockford Ministers’ Fellowship, Member of the Rockford Public Library Board of Trustees, City of Rockford Mayor Minority Council, Rockford Chapter of NAACP, Winnebago County Black Male Health Coalition, Immediate Past Illinois Chaplain and member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and Free and Accepted Mason of Harmony Lodge #88/Chicago, Illinois. Rev. Armstrong holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Corporate Communications from Northern Illinois University and is currently completing a dual Master of Social Work and Master of Divinity at Loyola University Chicago to be completed December 2011. Rev. Armstrong’s goal is to save souls, save lives, and most of all, do God’s will through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. This coming from Acts 1:8, “Ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you.”
