1 Samuel 15:22

King James Version (KJV)

22 ….. Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice,……

Jonah 1:1-3

King James Version (KJV)

1 Now the word of the Lord came unto Jonah the son of Amittai, saying,

Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before me.

But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the presence of the Lord, and went down to Joppa; and he found a ship going to Tarshish: so he paid the fare thereof, and went down into it, to go with them unto Tarshish from the presence of the Lord.

Disclaimer: I am in the midst of an assignment from the Lord, so if this blog sound crazy, it’s me not you.  Let’s go.

Today’s blog is difficult for me.  I have been on an assignment I believe is from the Lord.  This assignment has truly vexed me.  You may ask, “Why?”  This assignment is something I truly don’t want to do.  Now don’t get me wrong.  I love the Lord, I believe His word, and I believe we should do what He said.  It’s foreign to me.  I don’t like how I feel.  When I have shared this task with friends, family, and even believers they question the call.  What do you do when you are called to do something that doesn’t make sense to you?

In my Sunday School class we studied the book of Jonah.  Some sermons and/or teaching have a tendency to shed a negative light on Jonah, but I understand him to a point.  Please read the book of Jonah.  There are times as believers that we are called to do something that we truly do not want to do.  We say in our private prayer and/or in our attitude, “Why did you asked me to do that?” ,“That’s too hard God, no I don’t want to” , or my personal favorite, “ That’s too difficult, and I am comfortable in this last assignment you gave me.”  You may not say it in your prayers, but your attitude is saying it.  Realize that God will provide everything you need.  We have a tendency to do is stay in something that he told us to do yesterday, but the anointing has left the building for that season of your call.  It’s time to step out and embrace what the Lord has for you today.

In the midst of writing this blog, I am receiving a lot of my own answers, and ironically I had to rewrite this blog 3 times.  It wouldn’t save, transfer, or whatever.  It could be 1 of 2 things.  The first reason is that the devil does not want us to think about the assignment God has placed on your heart and doesn’t want anyone reading this to press forward in what what the Lord is calling them to do.  Secondly, it could be that flesh was getting in the way, and the Lord felt my opinions were too much in this entry.  Either way it’s time to step out and do what the Lord has asked us to do.  I only have to look back at the past assignments that were given to me.  To be honest I didn’t want to do that assignment, but received a blessing while blessing others.  This is a new mountain to climb.  I need to fast and pray more.  Trust more.  Stretch more.

I implore you walk into your call!!!

Be Fabulous and Be Blessed.

You only touched the surface. You were holding back and not giving your all. If you do not believe, you can do so, and be vulnerable with the audience you are seeking to reach, then it's,best not to broach the subject. God has brought you too far. Share your testimony. Be bold with...

This was so needed. I have been studying Jonah, and I can relate to your words as well as to what Jonah must have been feeling. I am making the choice to Obey God! Thanks, Ms Vicki TC!
