Pre-Nuptial Agreements

     How do you view marriage? Is marriage a contract or is it a covenant between man, woman, and God? The arguments goes that you should never be able to leave a marriage with what you did not enter into the marriage with. It is then stated that because of the trend of divorces in American culture, that is best to protect yourself, your assets, and thus the pre-nuptial agreement. It is viewed more as a safe guard, like insurance, whereas if you do not have to use it no harm no foul.  Yet, if you do have a pre-nuptial agreement, then no party is receiving more than what they are rightfully entitled too.

            
     I am sure if I took the emotional and spiritual elements out of entering into a marriage I can look at having a pre-nuptial agreement as a safe guard. I can look at it from a business stand point and say, yes, what is mine is mine, and if one did not contribute to said thing then they should not be entitled to walk away with it. I get the rationale and being the logical realistic person that I am, I can see the view that others have in regards to having a pre-nuptial agreement in place. On the other hand, I am someone who does not look at marriage with a clause, where either party can just opt out. I know you cannot force someone to stay married to you. I am not naïve to believe that just because one party wants the marriage to stay intact that it will in fact
do just that. Therefore, it truly is a catch twenty two.
