Shrek

In the opening scenes of Shrek, we see a family that appears to have it all together. There is an ogre mom and dad and 3 cute ogre babies.  But you start to see the scene move quickly as the actions become redundant. The smile that Shrek once had is now replaced with frustration. You see Shrek now losing sleep.  While everyone else is sleep Shrek gets up and begins to look at himself in the mirror.  He is making the once scary Shrek face that made him happy. His life is becoming routine and now he's wrestling with his responsibilities of his realities and the fantasies of his past.

We see something similar happening with Samson. Samson was born into a priestly family and from childhood was turned over to the service of God.  But Samson is now wrestling with that realities and responsibilities of his life.  As a result, he too is torn between who he is called to be and what he wants to do!  Here is Samson, the promise manifested to his parents, a strong, good looking young man but yet he still wrestling with whom he is!

They are not by themselves! How often do you wrestle with who you are and what you have the potential to be, especially according to the will of God for your life? The truth is we have to learn how to be real with ourselves understanding that our present may not be all that we desire, but a compilation of decisions that were made before and by us! It is these moments that will shape our destiny, as we then make the decisions necessary to move from one point to the next!

What internal conflict are you dealing with? How is it affecting the decisions that you are making?
