Step 5: Newness Is Everywhere

The #1 question I get from people who I introduced Fabulous Things to is this:  “How to I find new things to do?”  That question stumped me as well when I started.  It’s fun when you discuss an adventure, but planning it is a different thing.  The answer is fairly simple.  Newness is everywhere.  For example, I always wanted to audition for plays.  I happened to work with someone who does plays all the time.  They were having auditions and she invited me to come out.  Now, I do sing, but I haven’t sung in a few years.  Acting?  I haven’t done that since school.  I told her “no” flat out.  I was not going to embarrass myself in front of all those people.  Then something checked me in my spirit and asked me, “all what people?”  When it comes right down to it, it’s just plain excuses.  If I didn’t get a part in a play, I at least had the experience of auditioning.  So I went.  Needless to say, I got the part, and working on another play.  Since I took that step, I have met some great new people, and they are a part of my life now.

We also can look in our community, step out, and help people.  It’s a lot of hurting people all around us.  You may have the idea that’s needed to change the surroundings around you.  Fabulous Things started, verbally at first, because I felt people thought that life was over at a certain age.  People were saying things like “our season has past.”  We are still fairly young, we are not knocking on deaths door.  We have another day and opportunity to not only change ourselves but others around us.  Give yourself away to be used.
