Unacceptable Truth
I am going off pure rational thinking with a hint of emotion. As of late it seems that condoning negative behavior has become the acceptable truth. I have heard some things that really make me wonder if the values held in American culture are drastically decreasing as we become more liberal in our laws. Case in point, we tend to make television reality, and set certain people on pedestal because of their economic status.
Recently the debate over child support has been covered on national news, along with infidelity amongst couples. You make have scan pass or even heard of the latest saga surrounding Dwayne Wade & Gabrielle Union, and how he produced a child while on a break from his relationship with Gabrielle. Now, we know where most people have stated that it is their business and no one should care what they do in their personal lives. Now I can partially agree to disagree, because like it or not they are role models. I know people say entertainers do not qualify as role models and that parents, teachers and pastors should be the role models to our youth and not celebrities. However, we know that is just too narrow of an idea to remain true, especially when most celebrities have foundations that directly impact our youth, which means we are more engaged with them. I say all this because of the responses of our culture where the blame is primarily on the woman. I heard things like; she is getting her just do. I heard the cliché of remember what
you will not do, another person will.
Another instance that really took me aback was the elevation of Phaedra and her husband Apollo. You may not know these two particular people; however, what we have is a situation that is seemingly inappropriate where another woman, Kenya, has been flirting back and forth with Apollo. No direct line has been crossed, and yet, the discount of Phaedra's feelings as it pertains to this situation is clear. I saw a statement where a young lady said, Apollo is checking Kenya's direction because Phaedra is not losing her baby weight as fast as she did with her first pregnancy. Now you know I give major side eye when women state such bull on behalf of why a man is or is not checking for another woman. It really is disheartening to see that people can see justification of breaking a sacred covenant over someone so superficial.
I provided those two examples but there are more where that comes from. The Sister Wives now has a spinoff that is called My Five Wives. Or it gets even deeper because in those two instances we are saying this is of God. Let's not even get started with the Old Testament doctrine, and the idea of the concubines. You see whether you are celebrity or not, it has become socially acceptable to have multiple women and children. My question to the readers, Am I missing something?
