What Are You Saying?

Last night I got less sleep than I did the night before, yet I had more energy throughout my day today, than I did yesterday.  So, what was so different about today compared to yesterday?  I'm glad you asked!  The difference is, today I did not tell myself that I was tired.  Yesterday, however, I think I said it at least ten times.  Each time I said it, I yawned uncontrollably.

One thing that bothers me is when people say things like, "my head is killing me", or "my life is horrible."  These declarations are completly negative, and when spoken out loud produce negative results.

When I woke of today, I was so tired I wanted to call into work.  The last time I hit the snooze button (6th time) I decided I was going to make the best of my day, and I wasn't going to keep telling myself I was tired.  As others spoke to me throughout the day and asked how I was doing, I responded by saying I was refreshed.  I made it through the day feeling just fine.  The Bible tells us that Life and death are in the power of the tongue.  (Proverbs 18:21).  What you say, you will have!

I want to encourage others to speak life to themselves.  Even when it feels like things are horrible, speak life to that situation.  A headache really can make us feel bad, but a mere headache won't kill us.  It may seem like you can't catch a break, but don't sabotage your chances by speaking curses over your life.

Think about the challenges that you face day to day, and pay attention to what you say to yourself about it.  Say what you want, now what you see.
