Women's Empowerment
Like it or not media has a huge influence on our daily lives. We look at cultural norms, and more than likely they are expressed via the media. A vast majority of the population formulates their opinion on a particular group based on what they see in the media. It’s sad because when one seeks to refute such a thing, it is said that is not the standard. However, we need to understand that media is a microscopic prospective, that is revenue generated and sensationalized. To go beyond what is depicted in the media, we are often told, go read for yourself. Go to an art museum, science museum, play, a trip to Italy, New York, Paris, to experience what should be the norm, and yet it is not. I thought of this as a cry out for help, because I believe we are destroying the world. We are not balancing God and Evil. We are setting a standard of everything being ok. Now, I cannot speak for what men should do, as I am not a man. However, I can send out a charge to the female population. Therefore, I have composed the following. Women, let’s implement in our daily lives.
- Spirituality needs to be cultivated, therefore, study and teach your children, nieces, nephews and youth within your community to have a person relationship with God through His word.
- Speak life not death, regardless of how bad something may seem, find the good in it. No male or female bashing. Esteem others by having a glass half full mentality.
- Education: Have a thirst for knowledge. While they say college isn’t for everyone, there needs to be some form of technical and formal education in your life. We are in a global society. Therefore, to compete you must be well-rounded and educated.
- Support your family. Do not enable but bless those with your talents.
- Financial responsibility. Develop a money management strategy that is not about robbing Peter to pay Paul. It’s ok to ball on a budget. You will stay out of debt doing so.
- Love yourself. That means, physically and mentally. Do not self-indulge. Gluttony is still and always will be a deadly sin. Ensure that you are having your annual physicals.
- Rest. You do not need to be superwoman. Take a break, know when and how to ask for help. A nice vacation and stay-cation are good for the mind, body and spirit.
You can add to this list, we just starting with the basics.
